Dalton Boess wasn’t sure what he wanted to major in when he started college. Now, because of his experiences as a student employee, academic involvement, and internships, he is on a path to pursue a career in collegiate recreation, something he didn’t know existed before he got to Iowa. 

In this installment, we meet Patrick, Amy, and their daughter Addison, a second-year student studying Journalism and Mass Communication, German, and Sport and Recreation Management.

It’s kind of wild that fall break is almost here. The semester always seems to fly by after midterms. This is a good time to talk with your student about fall break plans.

The weekend was filled with fun, connection, and plenty of Hawkeye spirit as families joined their students to experience life at Iowa.

Fall break at the University of Iowa runs from Saturday, Nov. 22, through Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025. While campus is quieter during this time, many offices and services remain open to support students who stay in Iowa City to study, work, or rest before finals.
