Undergrad Literary Magazines Call for Submissions

The University of Iowa is known for its acclaimed writing programs. The University’s Iowa Writers’ Workshop and the International Writing Program were central to UNESCO’s decision to designate Iowa City as a City of Literature in 2008. Recently, Iowa was ranked #2 in US News and World Reports’ list of writing universities. Iowa’s standing as a top writing school is evidenced by the school’s many undergraduate literary magazines. For many of these magazines, fall submission deadlines are closing in.

Flurry of student organization activity follows large incoming class

The class of 2026, with more than 5,000 students, is the third largest on record. As a result, the University has seen an uptick in club activity around campus. More than 3300 students attended the student organization fair which consisted of more than 300 clubs. Between the beginning of August and the middle of September, more than 200 student organization events have taken place.

Patrick Galligan hired as director of training for University Counseling Service

As a multidisciplinary APA-accredited training site, the University Counseling Service (UCS) is celebrated for its training program. Facilitating such a program requires dedication, purpose, and an in-depth knowledge of the material being taught. That is why UCS has hired former practicum coordinator, Patrick Galligan, Ph.D., as the new director of training.

The University of Iowa has released its Alcohol Harm Reduction Plan for 2022-2025, the overarching goal of which is to create a campus environment that maximizes well-being and minimizes harm resulting from alcohol consumption and high-risk drinking.
