From Oct. 23–26, we welcomed a record-setting 1,200 families to campus for Family Weekend 2025. From the mind-bending performance by magician and mentalist Noah Sonie to professional Hawkeye family photos on the Pentacrest—and gatherings like our pre-Family Weekend social and Sunday brunch at Big Grove Iowa City—the weekend was filled with fun, connection, and plenty of Hawkeye spirit.

Throughout the weekend, families explored campus, attended performing arts and athletic events, and connected with staff, faculty, and fellow Hawkeye families. Highlights included Noah Sonie’s packed performance, an Iowa Hawkeyes football win against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, and professional photos on the Pentacrest. We were also grateful to partner with Big Grove Iowa City to host both the pre-Family Weekend social and Sunday brunch, giving families time to unwind, mingle, and enjoy a local favorite just minutes from downtown.

For many families, this was the first time they had seen their Hawkeye since move-in in late August. The weekend offered time to reconnect, share in their student’s experiences, and see firsthand what makes the Hawkeye community so special. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this year’s Family Weekend memorable. We hope to welcome even more Hawkeye families next year—Fall 2026 program dates will be announced in early spring.
