Fall break at the University of Iowa runs from Saturday, Nov. 22, through Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025. While campus is quieter during this time, many offices and services remain open to support students who stay in Iowa City to study, work, or rest before finals. There is no fee to stay in the halls over the break, but students must submit a form to do so.
Things to do before the break
Encourage your student to plan ahead and make sure they’re ready for a safe, productive week on or near campus. Students should check key systems, finalize travel or housing plans, and review available campus resources.
- Confirm spring registration time and clear any holds in MyUI.
- Review the final exam schedule and create a study plan in MyUI.
- Review key information from University Housing & Dining about available services and submit the housing form if staying on campus.
- Students should talk to their roommate(s) about their plans for fall break. As always, students may not loan out keys to other students or guests.
