University Counseling Service Accreditation
Main navigation
The University Counseling Service internship in Health Service Psychology has been accredited through the American Psychological Association (APA) since 1979. Students in all APA-accredited doctoral programs in health service psychology are required to complete year-long fulltime internships. The practice-based internships provide high-quality training in nine profession-wide competencies, including psychological assessment, intervention, clinical supervision, and individual and cultural diversity. The training program underwent an extensive self-study, followed by a site visit in the spring of 2018, and it has been re-accredited for ten years. For more information contact Dr. Patrick Galligan, Director of Training, at patrick-galligan@uiowa.edu.
