Access to Data for DSL Staff
AIR supports access to current and accurate data to promote evidence-based decision making in the Division of Student Life and meet the University of Iowa’s strategic plan.
The department, in partnership with DSL Information Technology Services (ITS):
- Acts as an advocate for the Division of Student Life in campus data discussions
- Promotes collaboration between the Division of Student Life and other campus data stewards
- Secures data generated in the Division of Student Life
- Supports training and skill development
Data Orientation Manual
The Data Orientation Manual for New Staff is intended to give an introductory overview to data usage, access, training and policies. New staff should review this manual with their supervisor and department assessment coordinators.
Division of Student Life Portal and Dashboards
Business Intelligence (BI) has become increasingly important on campus as we explore ways to become more efficient, effective, and competitive. BI can deliver greater insight into institutional performance, enable faster and more informed decisions, and provide information for agile response to opportunities and threats. AIR works with DSL ITS and ITS Data Insights and Analytics to support BI projects and use in the Division of Student Life. These solutions help us better understand and communicate how our work supports student success, retention, and persistence.
A suite of dashboards and other visualizations of Division of Student Life data are available.
Campus Data
Campus Data serves as the main data source for all of the University of Iowa. This tool allows the user to find, request, and analyze a variety of data compilations, all in one location.
Data Hub
The Data Hub is a great first stop to find data, ask questions about data, and collaborate with other campus data users. Learn more. The Data Hub also has an institutional data starter pack to help you get started with institutional data.
