Committee charge

The Reimagining Campus Safety Action Committee was responsible for identifying strategies, tactics, and timelines for creating a campus community that supports the safety of all individuals, with particular attention to people* who have traditionally experienced disproportionate harm from systems such as law enforcement.

The committee’s work occurred in phases. Questions to consider for each phase are listed. Read more on Iowa Now.

The University of Iowa partnered with a local agency, Astig Planning, to support gathering feedback from the campus community on the campus safety prototypes. Astig Planning services are aimed at transforming communities and landscapes through engagement, empowerment, and advocacy.

* People who have traditionally experienced disproportionate harm from systems such as law enforcement include Black, Latinx, and Gender-Non-Conforming individuals, among others.
