Division of Student Life leader, Jostna Dash serves as a Senator at Large for UISG, as the President of the Indian Student Alliance, and as a Residence Assistant for Stanley Hall. A Communication Studies and International Studies major, Dash also is pursuing a certificate in Leadership Studies.

Under Dash’s leadership the Indian Student Alliance became a "Collaboratively Funded Organization." These are the large, high impact organizations that receive special consideration for funding from the two student governments. Becoming a CFO is a major accomplishment for a student organization.

"The best thing about my involvement is that I've gained skills that I would have never been able to learn in any class," says Dash.

Dash also uses her leadership skills as a Senator at Large for UISG, and helped organize the 2013 elections. She strives to be a voice for underrepresented students on campus and is helping UISG promote more collaboration among student organizations.

She has been a successful leader for the Division of Student Life through several outlets. Dash says, "I'll be able to look back 10 years from now and know I made some sort of an impact on the University of Iowa."

Dash's leadership experiences in the Division of Student Life will aid her after graduation when she plans to pursue a Master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs.
