Celebrate the rich heritage of African culture and honor the contributions of Black Iowans at the Iowa City Inaugural Black History Ball.

In celebration of Black History Month, Iowa City Senior Center's Original Mature Groovers (formerly known as Elders of Color) are teaming up with local nonprofit organization Sankofa Outreach Connection to present Iowa City's first-of-its- kind Black History Ball.

The event will feature an art exhibit curated by the Ul Stanley Museum of Art, live jazz music by the Curtis Taylor Quartet, keynote speaker Dr. Ashley Howard, and food representing both African cuisine and traditional African American dishes.

Tickets can be purchased here.
