Amber McNeal, assistant director for outreach at the IMU and organizer of this year’s Finals at IMU, finds that the events are crucial to students looking to succeed in their finals. “By offering quiet spaces for students to study while also providing opportunities for them to take a break and recharge without having to leave the IMU, we feel it eases some of the stress that finals week brings on,” McNeal says.

The week’s festivities kicked off yesterday with Pancheros and a showing of The Breakfast Club. Monday started with the Flipping into Finals pancake breakfast in the Main Lounge and will also have mac and cheese later in the day. Tuesday will host Carbs & Caffeine, Paintings and Pastries, and a baked potato bar. On Wednesday there will be Casey’s breakfast pizza and the Peace Out 2022 event, which will also have pizza and Peace Tea. Toward the end the week there will be cereal and cartoons on Thursday morning.

Throughout the week, students can take advantage of yoga, meditation sessions, massages, and therapy dogs. These services emphasize the importance that the university places on mental health and wellbeing. “The goal each semester is to support students by offering a space and activities that promote mental health, nourishment, and stress relief,” McNeal says.
