What is your favorite memory from the University of Iowa?

My favorite memory at the University of Iowa has to be my first time participating in The Wave! I was so excited after hearing about it from my upperclassmen friends. Seeing my new community come together to uplift and support the families staying in the children’s hospital was so special. A Hawkeye win soon after made the moment even sweeter!

What would like to see changed in the world during your lifetime?

In my lifetime I would like to see our country's school system become more equitable, and higher education become more affordable. As a product of the Chicago Public Schools, I saw firsthand the devastating disparity between affluent and poorer areas when it came to school resources. Education is one of our best weapons against poverty, but so many schools are still struggling because of a lack of funding. Good schooling can’t fix every problem in the world, but it’s a great start.

If you could choose one superpower, what would it be?

If you asked me a few years ago, I’d probably say the power to fly. One airplane ride in the window seat gave me plenty of time to reflect on how wrong I was. Now I think telekinesis sounds pretty great, especially during my lazier moments.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

The future is so hard to predict, but in 10 years I’d love to see myself living and working in Chicago. Although I’m graduating soon, my love of learning will remain long after college. I will definitely stay in contact with the incredible friends that I made at the University of Iowa, and visit Iowa City as much as I can!

What is a fun fact that no one knows about you?

I was in a Scottish Dancing club back in high school.
