For most college students, balancing college demands and extracurricular activities can be overwhelming and time consuming. Students are constantly on-the-go, so eating quality food during a time that is convenient in their busy schedule can be a challenge. University Housing and Dining wanted to change that. Launched in the fall of 2021, the new Market2Go program allows students to take their food to-go. This program, included with all meal plans, allows students the convenience of eating wherever they want, while working to reduce waste through reusable containers.
The Market2Go program was launched with the intention of allowing students more flexibility in their dining options. With this new program, students can take their meals on the go outside the market places as often as they desire. This program is available at all three market places: Burge, Catlett, and Hillcrest. Students can simply grab a green container at any market place, take it and fill it up with food from any station, and then take their food to consume anywhere they want on campus. To participate in the program, students can follow these steps.
Additionally, this new program emphasizes sustainability in the market places as students utilize reusable, green containers for their to-go meals. To keep containers sanitary for students, University Dining thoroughly cleans containers for students if they bring their empty, rinsed container after a meal to any of the market places.
The Market2Go program is also available for staff and faculty at the University of Iowa. More information can be found at dining.uiowa.edu.
