The natural turf at the Hawkeye Recreation Fields had become increasingly unreliable due to uneven surfaces, aging irrigation, poor drainage, compacted soil, and frequent waterlogged areas that caused closures and cancellations.

A recent renovation converted the western 7.34 acres to synthetic turf and included site grading, sidewalks, fencing improvements, upgraded PA sound system, expanded Wi-Fi, and improved gate access.

The renovated fields now provide a more dependable, weather-resistant, and versatile recreation space that can accommodate up to six flag football fields or two soccer fields while supporting student activities, intramurals, and community events.
