It’s hard to believe, but it’s time to start thinking about housing for next year. In Iowa City, Coralville, and North Liberty, lease renewals begin as early as October. If your student plans to live off-campus, now is a great time to start your search.

Check out the webinar

Our Oct. 16 episode of the Parent and Family Webinar includes staff from our University Housing and Dining and Student Care and Assistance Offices who discuss on and off-campus housing options in Iowa City and how Student Legal Services supports students with leases, landlord questions, and renters’ rights. The video will be available for viewing here in the coming week.

Other resources

  • Cody Howell in Student Care and Assistance provides general assistance as well as specialization in helping students find off-campus housing.
  • Student Legal Services maintains a list of housing resources on their website, and they offer assistance to students for tenant-landlord issues.
  • University of Iowa Student Government (USG) maintains a renter's guide for information about the level of service tenants received from their landlords last year.

Staying on campus for fall break?

Staying in university housing during Fall Break is free, but students must fill out an information form located in the housing portal by noon on Nov. 20th. Note that only select dining locations will be available. See https://housing.uiowa.edu/fallbreak more information.
