Sydney Maxa is an Interdisciplinary Studies major with a Multidisciplinary Sciences Emphasis, Minor in Lifestyle Medicine from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She plans on pursuing a Master's in Higher Education Administration after graduation.

What is your favorite University of Iowa memory?

My favorite memory with the University of Iowa is being present at the Iowa Women's Basketball team's game against Indiana University. My boyfriend and I got on national TV during the pre-game celebration, and I got to see THE Caitlin Clark buzzer-beater in person!

What would you like to see changed in the world during your lifetime?

I hope that the world can come together very soon to figure out how to save our planet and reverse the climate change path that we are on. This means investing in renewable energy, holding large businesses accountable for their carbon emissions, and instating national policies on going green.

What is your go-to karaoke song?

I would HAVE to sing Mama Mia by ABBA

What is your secret talent?

I am AMAZING at predicting the plots of movies and TV shows. 

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I hope to see myself at a college or university working with students to provide a welcoming and successful campus culture! I feel a strong calling to work in higher education and to work with college students in an academic setting. I hope that I will be a mentor for students and I hope that I will be making a difference in the next generation of the workforce!
