Hello Hawkeyes,
Like many of you, we are excited for the 2022 football season to begin Saturday. Students play a valuable role in the Hawkeye football tradition, both as players on the field and fans in the stadium. Respect for others is a key component of The IOWA Challenge, which calls on us to be good neighbors and make Iowa City a great place to live.
A few things to remember when attending Hawkeye football games this fall:
Do:
- Arrive before kickoff and stay for the entire game.
- Show your Iowa pride by wearing black and gold.
- Be respectful toward other fans, visiting teams, officials, marching band members, and our neighbors with your words and actions.
- If you choose to drink, limit your consumption of alcohol before, during, and after the game.
- Limit tailgating to designated campus locations during the allowable hours.
- Recycle (or use garbage cans for trash).
- Watch the weather and dress accordingly.
- Stay hydrated and remember to eat.
Don't:
- Consume alcohol under the legal age.
- Carry open beer, wine, or hard liquor on public sidewalks and roads — it's against Iowa City's open container ordinance.
- Use tobacco products, which include cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes, and smokeless tobacco. The University of Iowa is a tobacco-free campus.
- Go on the field — for your own safety, as well as the safety of players, coaches, and other fans.
Additional information about Iowa football game day and Kinnick Stadium policies can be found here. If you are unable to attend the games, we hope you will still engage in ways to support our Hawkeyes in a fun, healthy manner.
