Undergraduate Research Fellowships (URF) provide a research experience for undergraduate students and assist staff in the Division of Student Life in conducting research projects in support of student success. Students in the fellowship are expected to work approximately 10 hours a week and will be given a $2,400 scholarship or stipend. A fellowship is not considered student employment and will not be counted toward the 20-hour employment restriction.

Below is a list of all the spring 2024 URF opportunities.

Civic Dialogue Research Fellow:

Civic dialogue is a skill set for exploring an issue with other people that is focused on mutual understanding, close connection, and the discovery of new possibilities. As a campus, we currently have numerous initiatives that incorporate methods of dialogue, and we are looking to expand these opportunities. This research fellow will conduct a benchmarking study to understand in what ways the University of Iowa’s peer and aspirant institutions are providing civic dialogue skill-building opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. Apply for this fellowship.

University Dining Research Fellow:

Meal plans are essential to on-campus living.  Understanding what is wanted, needed, and desired is critical to having a robust dining program on campus that meets students' needs.  This research fellow will work with the Director of Dining Services to conduct focus groups, gather feedback, design meal plans, analyze data, and help present a final recommendation to the University for the future of the meal plan on campus. Apply for this fellowship.
