The South Gym, a six court basketball/volleyball space in the Field House, is a popular place for drop-in play, youth tournaments, sports camps, and intramural and sports clubs. While the space has been functional since its construction in 1985, it has not been updated in over 30 years.

Throughout the past year, Recreational Services has made substantial updates in modernizing this space.  Renovations included painted walls in school colors, new glass backboards, four overhead retractable volleyball units, and a resurfaced and painted wood flooring with IOWA bulk lettering under the free-throw lines and the Hawkeye logo in center court of all six courts.
