In 2016, Carmalitta Baum joined RVAP as its Rural Child Direct Services Advocate, and is based in RVAP's Lee County office. Carmalitta provides mobile advocacy for child and adolescent sexual abuse survivors and their non-offending guardians in RVAP’s seven rural counties (Cedar, Des Moines, Henry, Iowa, Lee, Van Buren, and Washington). She provides free and confidential services to clients, including medical, legal, and school-based advocacy.
This April, Carmalitta was honored as this year’s Outstanding Early Childhood Advocate by Southeast Iowa Early Childhood. All of us at RVAP are proud to work alongside Carmalitta as she provides life-saving support throughout southeast Iowa.
