Nicole Nucaro: Homecoming Court 2019

Nicole Nucaro is a fourth-year student from West Des Moines, Iowa majoring in Ethics and Public Policy, Interdepartmental Studies, and working toward a Certificate in Resilience and Trauma Informed Perspectives

What is your favorite memory from the University of Iowa?

Although I have a great memories from study abroad, student organizations and fun nights with friends, I'd say nothing beats eating in the dining halls!

If you had a superpower for one day, what would it be?

Teleportation, I'd jet around the world on a daily basis

Why do you want to be a part of Homecoming Royalty?

My freshman year I didn't feel like I embodied the Hawkeye spirit at all. Four years later, I feel involved in, invested in and inspired by the community around me on campus. I wanted to be a part of homecoming royalty to have a great memory to look back on down the road and to show younger students that their path in college doesn't have to be linear.

What would like to see changed in the world during your lifetime?

I'd like to see a huge effort made world-wide to increase the accessibility and quality of education.

If you had the chance to redo one year on campus, which year would it be, and what would you do differently?

I wouldn't change any of my years at Iowa. While some were harder than others, I think the hard semesters made me learn a lot about myself which led to really great subsequent semesters.

What is a fun fact that no one knows about you?

Most people who know me know this, but I am a great couponer (yes, like the show Extreme Couponing). When I get really stressed, I usually go couponing and see how low I can get my receipt!

Iowa Homecoming is a week where the community comes together to celebrate Hawkeye pride. This year, we're celebrating The University of Iowa's impeccable history of Hawkeye champions whether they are on the field, in the classroom, or excelling worldwide. For more information on homecoming, visit
