Jessica Salpor: 2014 Homecoming Court

Jessica Salpor is a senior studying Health and Human Physiology with a Health Studies (Pre-Medicine) track and minor in Spanish from Pella, Iowa. We asked each member of the 2014 Homecoming Court to let us know a little more about themselves.

What is one of your favorite memories at Iowa?

Leadershape 2014, a leadership training program offered by the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership (CSIL), was one of the best experiences I've had at Iowa! I love CSIL programs, and this one did not disappoint. I learned so much about myself, what I want to achieve on campus, and met some of my closest friends. My family cluster, the HGL, really made the experience for me!

What are three things on your bucket list?

1. Live abroad for 1+ years

2. Visit all 50 states with my family

3. Take a safari so I can pet a lion and ride an elephant

If you could jump out of a plane, where would you want to land?

Australia! That is the next big trip I want to make.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I've been to 15 countries before. I visited nine when I went backpacking in Europe during high school with two of my friends and the rest have been through travels with my family.

If you could go back to freshman year, what would you do differently?

I'd take a deep breath. I'm type A all the way, and I threw myself into a lot when I came to campus. A lot of my memories would have been enhanced had I taken a breath and enjoyed each moment to the fullest.
