Iowa Memorial Union

Office of Student Accountability
The Office of Student Accountability continues to provide our typical services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The services provided by our office will not change in substance but may change in delivery. Rape Victim Advocacy Program
- Please be assured of the following starting today, Wednesday, March 18: RVAP will provide 24/7 in-person advocacy support during hospital and law enforcement accompaniment only.
- All other advocacy, counseling, and therapy will be offered by phone and/or Skype. Please schedule by calling (319-335-6000 or 800-228-1625).
- RVAP’s offices in Burlington, Iowa City, Keokuk, and Mount Pleasant will be closed. Advocates continue to provide free & confidential support remotely.
- Because most criminal and civil jury trials have been postponed in Iowa, advocates will work with victims/survivors on addressing legal appointments in an efficient and effective manner. The same approach will be taken with medical advocacy, employment issues, housing needs, including shelters, and access to government benefits.
- Advocates will continue to coordinate and co-advocate remotely with other service providers as much as possible.
- For those seeking assistance for the first time, our advocates welcome your call (319- 335-6000 or 800-228-1625).
- All RVAP events and training workshops have been suspended until further notice. However, our prevention and outreach projects will be shifted online and provided through digital technologies, such as webinars and social media.

Student Disability Services
SDS will be holding all student appointments virtually. Students who received accommodations from SDS for the spring 2020 semester should continue to have access to accommodations throughout remote delivery of courses. Student Engagement & Campus Programs
Student Health is open at the Westlawn location, but is limiting in-person scheduled visit times to 10 AM to 12 noon and 1- 3 PM only. No walk-ins can be seen in the clinic. All individuals entering the clinic will be screened for symptoms and fever. This will limit potential exposure of students and healthcare staff to COVID-19. The clinic is open normal hours 8 AM-5 PM M-F and Nurseline nurses will be answering questions by phone and scheduling video and phone visits with Student Health providers. Some routine appointments will be deferred. The IMU Nurse Care location is closed indefinitely. Prescription refills can be extended as needed by calling the Nurseline at 319-335-9704 or sending a MyChart request. Students should always CALL before coming in person to Student Health- or ANY clinic, hospital or emergency room. Student Legal Services
Student Legal Services staff is working remotely and the office is closed. Students can schedule Zoom appointments by completing an appointment request on the website or by e-mailing email@example.com. Phone calls are not being answered, but voice messages are responded to when staff is available. Regular updates are posted on the website and social media.
Sexual Misconduct Response Coordinator (OSMRC)
Student Wellness will continue offering free wellness consultations via Zoom or the phone, including consultations for alcohol, drugs, tobacco, e-cigarettes, nutrition, fitness, stress management and sleep. Two Collegiate Recovery Program support groups will continue in Zoom format – Success, Not Excess and SMART Recovery. Two four-week mindfulness workshops will be offered online in April. Other online resources, including a sleep app, guided mindfulness meditations, easy cooking demos, and exercises that can be done from home are included on this website: https://studentwellness.uiowa.edu/covid-19-resources/.
University Counseling Service
University Counseling Service (UCS) continues to provide its full range of counseling and programming/training services to support our students, staff, and faculty. The UCS has fully moved to a tele-mental health platform via Zoom for Health. If you are interested in either maintaining the counseling work you are already doing with your UCS therapist or are interested in starting counseling, please call the UCS at 319.335.7294 Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm CST. Please also call if you desire to consult about a concern you are having or if you would like to schedule a virtual outreach program or training. You may also visit UCS online HERE.

Kognito Campus Suicide Prevention which is an interactive, avatar based training module that takes about an hour to do. Great way for everyone to continue to participate in the campus’ continued suicide prevention initiative to help us all now and in the future.
University Housing & Dining
Because the University of Iowa will continue virtual instruction through the rest of the Spring 2020 semester, University Housing and Dining contracts ended on Thursday, March 19, 2020, except for the limited number of students who applied and were approved to continue living on campus. SCOPE Productions has cancelled the Injury Reserve show scheduled for April 18th at Gabe's. Meetings will be conducted in a virtual format, and members will be communicated with regarding these practices.
University Lecture Committee
In light of the recent University of Iowa announcement concerning upcoming events and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control, the University of Iowa Lecture Committee and Hancher has cancelled the April 14 lecture by Bill Nye. In addition, the April 28 lecture by Dr. John Lawrence has also been cancelled. Efforts will be made to reschedule both events for the 2020 – 2021 academic year.
