Bethany Welsh: 2014 Homecoming Court

Bethany Welsh is a senior studying Entrepreneurial Management with a certificate in Leadership Studies from Williamsburg, Iowa. We asked each member of the 2014 Homecoming Court to let us know a little more about themselves.

What is one of your favorite memories at Iowa?

My favorite memory at the University of Iowa was when I was the programming intern for FRY fest and I helped create a parody video to “Call Me Maybe.” It was so fun bringing different aspects of the University together to create this video. Watch the “FRY fest Baby” video here

What are three things on your bucket list?

Three things on my bucket list include attending every single county fair in the state of Iowa, running a half marathon, and taking a cake decorating class.

If you could jump out of a plane, where would you want to land?

I would want to land in the middle of Kinnick Stadium during a football game.  The atmosphere of a Hawkeye Football game is hard to find elsewhere and the view of the University of Iowa campus would be beautiful.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

One thing most people do not know about me is that I started the first ever Collegiate 4-H club at the University of Iowa.  Now all three public Iowa universities have a Collegiate 4-H club!

If you could go back to freshman year, what would you do differently?

I honestly wouldn’t change a thing.  I believe all of my drawbacks and successes have made me a stronger person.  I wouldn’t be the person I am today without all of the challenges I came upon throughout my four years at the University of Iowa.
