Angela Mahoney: Homecoming Court 2019

Angela Mahoney is a senior from Red Oak, Iowa majoring in Biochemistry.

What is your favorite memory from the University of Iowa?

Some of my fondest memories come from volunteering at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC). Specifically, one of my favorite roles as a volunteer is helping visitors navigate the hospital. I usually learn a little bit about where they are from, and it's incredible how far people will travel to receive care at UIHC!

If you had a superpower for one day, what would it be?

I think I would choose flying. I could visit all of my favorite people and places in one day!

Why do you want to be a part of Homecoming Royalty?

Homecoming at Iowa is such a special time for current students and alumni to celebrate our university. I want to be a part of Homecoming Royalty because I will get to experience Homecoming week in an even more memorable way.

What would like to see changed in the world during your lifetime?

I would like to see a world where everyone embraces the Golden Rule (treat people how you would like to be treated).

If you had the chance to redo one year on campus, which year would it be, and what would you do differently?

I wouldn't change anything! However, I would love to relive my study abroad in Dublin, Ireland.

What is a fun fact that no one knows about you?

I have seen the tribute band, Hairball, six times (or more, I'm losing track!).

Iowa Homecoming is a week where the community comes together to celebrate Hawkeye pride. This year, we're celebrating The University of Iowa's impeccable history of Hawkeye champions whether they are on the field, in the classroom, or excelling worldwide. For more information on homecoming, visit
