Allison Kindig: 2014 Homecoming Court

Allison Kindig is a senior studying Industrial Engineering with a minor in Business Administration and a certificate in Global Health Studies from Cedar Rapids, IA. We asked each member of the 2014 Homecoming Court to let us know a little more about themselves.

What is one of your favorite memories at Iowa?

One of my fondest memories was the night when nearly all of 8th floor Daum crammed into my room. I'm not sure how they found out it was my birthday, but all of a sudden, I looked up from my textbook to see lots of people singing me happy birthday. I was 21, studying for a circuits exam, and for sure feelin' the love from my residents. Thanks, 8th floor Daum 2013-2014, for making my night.

What are three things on your bucket list?

1)  Race the bike I am currently building in an arts & engineering class at USA Triathlon Collegiate Nationals this spring with the Trihawks, Iowa's club triathlon team.

2) Get published for the research our multidisciplinary group from the University of Iowa conducts in India this winter on the topic of deforestation and sustainable energy.

3) Perform a song live in public with my friends from Salt Company.

If you could jump out of a plane, where would you want to land?

Cameroon. Back in January of 2013, a group of us built the first iHawk solar oven in Africa...and it actually worked! I want to return to Cameroon to bake some more cupcakes with the people there.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I am good with a bow and arrow.

If you could go back to freshman year, what would you do differently?

I'd spend more time with my family. They mean everything to me and more.
