Abby Simon is a fourth year student from Ann Arbor, Michigan majoring in Speech and Hearing Science.

What is your favorite memory from the University of Iowa?

So many amazing memories!! One that tops the list is walking around campus with Woody Harrelson for University Lecture Committee and other students continually asking, “is that really Woody?!” Another top memory is countless long dinners with friends.

If you had a superpower for one day, what would it be?

Teleportation! I really want to visit all 7 continents and teleportation would make getting to Antarctica a lot easier. I’d only want one day in Antarctica because I get cold too easily.

Why do you want to be a part of Homecoming Royalty?

I’ve known I wanted to be part of Homecoming Royalty since attending the parade during my freshman year. I loved the excitement of students and alumni joining together to celebrate our school.

What would like to see changed in the world during your lifetime?

I’d like to see a legitimate change in how we treat our environment. Global warming is undeniable and it is critical that we act.

If you had the chance to redo one year on campus, which year would it be, and what would you do differently?

I would redo my freshman year so I could re-meet all of my friends and spend more time with friends that I made later in college. Our time here is so short and I want to spend more time with all of them!

What is a fun fact that no one knows about you?

I’m legit terrified of squirrels.
