Mission Statement

We strive to prepare students to lead & serve in their communities! Successful students develop skills and knowledge to become civic-minded leaders, become more mature in their thinking, assume greater responsibility for their own lives and learning, and develop their understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

About the Office

The Office of Leadership, Service, and Civic Engagement is housed within the Office of the Dean of Students at the University of Iowa, Division of Student Life. Our programs help students develop lifelong leadership skills, offers incredible experiential service learning, and provides civic engagement opportunities to students both on and off campus.

Our Impact

Throughout the year, each of our programs and activities assess student learning, program effectiveness, student leader development, and participate in university wide work. Our assessment reporting shares more information about how what we learn guides our practice to better serve students at the University of Iowa.
