Keep Up With Your Hawkeye

Parents Association

Established in 1955 as the Dad's Association, the UI Parents Association was created in 1971 to bring about a closer relationship among parents, students and the University. The Association's on-campus office is your connection to University departments and offices that can answer specific questions and respond to concerns. The Parents Association is staffed by the Office of the Vice President for Student Life and works closely with many offices all over campus.

Family Weekend

Hawkeye football, a pregame breakfast and other social events are among the activities that draw thousands of family members to the UI campus each fall. Weekend events are coordinated through the Center for Student Involement and Leadership, and one of the sponsors is the Parents Association. For more information, visit the UI Family Weekend site.

Alcohol on Campus

Talking to your UI student about binge drinking and alcohol consumption can be a difficult task. For tips on how to approach the conversation or for more information and resources when talking to your student about drinking in college, the Division has produced a handbook for parents to reference. 

Parent Times

From family spotlights to important dates and events on campus, Parent Times is your way to stay connected to the University of Iowa. Created by the Parents Association as a communication tool, the Parent Times is the only publication specifically designed for Hawkeye parents with students currently attending the University.
