Courtney Ries is a Biology major with minors in Dance and Computer Science from LaSalle, Illinois. 

What is your favorite University of Iowa memory?

My first Hawkeye football game! My friend Morgan and I were disappointed that we got there late and had to cram in the back row. Then, someone in the box gave us his Whitey's ice cream sandwich to split! I'll never forget that act of kindness. Nothing beats your first Hawkeye wave--although initiation for my chemistry fraternity takes a close second.

What would you like to see changed in the world during your lifetime?

In a general sense, I would like to see big opportunities become more accessible to everyone, especially to folks with disabilities and those from low-income backgrounds.

What is your go-to karaoke song?

Since Trina Vega's 'Chicago!' isn't a real song, probably Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. 

What is your secret talent?

I can overtone sing, aka sing two notes at once! 

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

On a beach.
