Students succeed at Iowa when they become effective leaders. The Division of Student Life provides an array of leadership experiences for students. Our strategic priority is to expand the number of undergraduates who have access to a meaningful student leadership experience. Our ambitious goal is “all Hawkeyes as leaders”.
The Finkbine Dinner for Representative Student Leaders recognizes outstanding campus leaders. The Hancher Finkbine Meadllions, one of the most prestigious awards given by the University, are announced at the dinner. Criteria for selection is leadership, learning and loyalty. Seven medallions are typically awarded annually to four outstanding students, one professor, one staff member, and a graduate who has attained special distinction. To learn more about the history of the award and to view previous recipients, visit the Finkbine Award page here. The 95th anniversary dinner will be held in 2012.
The Undergraduate Student Leadership Strategic Plan Task Force (USLSP) was charged with creating a three-year plan to create a widespread platform of leadership opportunities. Collaboration with partners within the Division and across the institution will be essential in meeting this goal. Access the USLSP Task Force Report for results and more detailed information.
